North Carolina Building Code, Permit and Licensing Information

Notes: North Carolina calls the custom codes it adopts the 2018 North Carolina Codes. These custom codes are based on the 2015 edition of the I-Codes.
Municipal and county electrical inspection departments inspect electrical installations. All municipal and county electrical inspectors must be certified by the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board. State-owned buildings need a through check-up by the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Engineering and Building Codes Division.

North Carolina Construction Code and Edition Adopted:

Applicability (statewide, local, limited): STATEWIDE

State code must be enforced in local jurisdictions.
