North Carolina Building Code, Permit and Licensing Information

Notes: North Carolina adopts custom codes that are called the 2018 North Carolina Codes. These custom codes are based off the 2015 edition of the I-Codes.
Electrical installations are inspected by municipal and county electrical inspection departments. All municipal and county electrical inspectors must be certified by the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board. State-owned buildings are inspected by the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Engineering and Building Codes Division

Applicability (statewide, local, limited): STATEWIDE

State code must be enforced in local jurisdictions.
