| State Building Code | The State of Virginia has adopted the 2015 Virginia Construction Code (in reference to the 2015 International Building Code, IBC), the 2015 Virginia Residential Code (in reference to the 2015 International Residential Code, IRC), the 2015 Virginia Mechanical Code (in reference to the International Mechanical Code, IMC), the 2015 Virginia Plumbing Code (in reference to the 20015 International Plumbing Code, IPC), and the 2015 Virginia Electrical Code (in reference to the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70).
The commonwealth of Virginia has a single statewide mandatory building code. Virginia does not allow local amendments to the Virginia Uniform Statewide Construction Code. |
