South Carolina Building Code

The South Dakota building code is to ensure safe and quality construction throughout the state. To meet safety and structural standards builders must follow these rules. To start any project, you get a permit to confirm that the project follows local regulations.

And, of course, contractors must have proper licensing to prove that they qualify for a particular job. Builders and homeowners can be assured that they are following the South Dakota building code and their projects are safe, when they follow the South Dakota building code.

Applicability (statewide, local, limited): STATEWIDE

State codes must be enforced in local jurisdictions.  South Carolina requires that all municipalities enforce building, energy, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas, and fire codes, relating to the construction, livability, sanitation, erection, energy efficiency, installation of equipment, alteration, repair, occupancy, classification, or removal of structures located within their jurisdictions as adopted by the state.
