Incomplete submittal packages cause almost all of the delays in the building permit approval process.
Most of us can sort through the three most common model codes or we can get an architectural, design or consulting firm to help. The most difficult task, however, even for experienced designers to understand are the various development engineering standards and environmental regulations adopted by the thousands of different local jurisdictions around the world.
Now here’s the good news. All of these thousands of jurisdictions have the information available, either on their web sites or they will meet with you in a pre-design or pre-submittal conference to explain the requirements.
You will save a lot of frustration by making sure you contact your local building, planning, or community development department to schedule one of these meetings prior to launching your project design.
