Water Availability Letter

New projects or parcel development often require a Water Availability Letter. You know when the water service is on where. This letter is written by the local water authority. That’s the first thing in a series of things you have to do to get a permit to build or even do construction work. The risk is that you will incur delays beginning your project if you don’t have that.

It may be simple, but it’s important. You know you have a sufficiently large water supply for your property. Additionally, it reveals that the water system can supply the need produced by your project. If you’re doing it for a home or a smaller building, or a bigger building, it will confirm to this letter that water access is available. Before permits are given, it is often necessary.

Getting a Water Availability Letter isn’t hard. And demand your local water department give you. They might need property details or might even require a home plan. The letter that has been approved helps you get on with your project. Make sure to save it for later to refer to. It’s a small step, but an important step in building.

What is a Water Availability Letter:

A water availability letter is almost always a requirement for every construction or building permit you may be applying for.

Make sure you speak with the water purveyor who will be providing water to your property.

It is quite common that there is not adequate fire flow on the existing water system to allow any new construction. You may need to make adjustments in your construction budget to allow for this shortcoming. Just because there are water lines out in the street, does not necessarily mean you can connect to them.

Speak with your water supplier as part of the pre-planning for your new project.
