| State Building Code | The State of Indiana has adopted the 2014 Indiana Building Code (in reference to 2012 International Building Code, IBC), the 2005 Indiana Residential Code (in reference to 2003 International Residential Code, IRC), the 2014 Indiana Mechanical Code (in reference to 2012 International Mechanical Code, IMC), the 2009 Indiana Electrical Code (in reference to National Electrical Code, NFPA 70), and the 2012 Indiana Plumbing Code (in reference to International Plumbing Code, IPC).
Indiana state wide building codes are minimum, however it is up to each local jurisdiction to adopt and enforce these code (home rule state). In some parts of the state residential (one and two family) dwellings are built without plan review or inspection. |
